Sika Osei At Grey Dawn Premiere

Africa’s Sweetheart, Sika Osei, co-host of DStv’s Studio 53 Extra, has assured movie fans she would be casting in more movies and even take up a full-time filmmaking job in the near future.

According to her, she has been bracing herself for a full-time career in acting aside her presenting career and will definitely be dominating the silver screens very soon.

Sika’s comment comes after her major acting appearance in Grey Dawn, a movie directed by Shirley Frimpong Manso for Sparrow Productions.

She played the role of an 18-year-old daughter of government minister Harold, played by Nollywood’s Manuel Bimbo, who must choose between using his position to help his father-in-law, Kweku Yanka (Kofi Middleton Mends), stay out of jail for tax evasion or allow the law to take its course. His decision sets in motion a chain of events that lure him into committing the one sin that will haunt him for the rest of his life.

“Grey Dawn is my first movie that has come out but I have done others that are not out yet. I did ‘The Counselor’ and other short films… yes you definitely going to be seeing more of me. Remember that name Sika Osei,” she told NEWS-ONE at Grey Dawn’s Val’s Day eve premiere at the Silverbird Cinemas in Accra.

She described her experience on Grey Dawn set as “lovely.”

“It was lovely. It was absolutely lovely. I was nervous because of the actors in this movie. I mean you have seen the actors in the movie but Shirley made me feel very comfortable and she kept assuring me that I could do it and I really really appreciate that.

“My role? They wanted me to play 18 but as you can see I am not 18. So it’s hard. If they asked you to play your 18 years old would you remember? It’s hard, isn’t it? I had to do a lot of research so I can act as an 18 years old girl. But that’s really the biggest challenge, apart from that everything else was exhilarating because of the kind of actors I was acting with,” she also spoke about her role.

When asked what hit her the most while watching herself on the big screen last Friday, this is what she had to say, “I think it is always hard for me to critique myself because I was always like okay okay what do people think? But there are certain moments, where I thought you know what Sika, you did a good job like you put in your effort and I can see that myself.”
