Seven Candidates Miss Maiden BECE Resit Exams In Ashanti


Seven candidates absented themselves from the maiden edition of the Basic Examinations Certificate Examination (BECE) resit examination in the Ashanti region.

A total of 73 candidates drawn from the various districts in the region sat for the examination at the regional office of the West African Examination Council (WAEC).

The male candidates were 43 whiles the female were 30.

The Ministry of Education (MoE) introduced BECE resit to allow Junior High School candidates that could not pass in the previous exams.

The private BECE is also an opportunity for BECE candidates who missed out in the placement exercise under the Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) to get a second chance to further their education.

In all, 1,181 candidates are expected to converge on 11 examination centers throughout the country.

Out of the total number of candidates who registered for the examination, 1,136 candidates are expected to write Mathematics, while 1,057 of them will write English Language.

The candidates began the maiden edition of the examination with an English Language and ICT papers.

Some of the candidates spoke to rawgist.com after the examinations indicated that the questions were easier than the previous BECE examinations.

“The papers were okay and I wrote very well, I think is a good idea to allow us write for the second time,” one of the candidates said.

The examination will end on Friday 20th February, 2015.
