Avram Grant to keep Black Stars door open to new players even on an ‘island’

Ghana coach Avram Grant says he will open the door to every Ghanaian player to justify his inclusion in his team even if he plays on an island.

The Israeli is smarting from leading the Black Stars to clinch silver at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations held in Equatorial Guinea.

He is currently on a well-deserved 10-day break visiting his daughter in London.

Grant, a former coach of Chelsea says his door is very much opened to new players to gatecrash his squad ahead of the qualifiers for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations provided the player shows quality and character.

“The national team will always be opened to every Ghanaian player in the world. Even if it’s a small island if he will be good, the door is open for him,” he told Ghana FA’s official website.

“But again if he will be with quality, with good character, be positive and will be ready just not by talking because they all say they want to give everything for the national team.

“This needs to be a good lesson for everybody, that if you perform well everybody will respect you. Everybody around the world respects what the national team did recently.”

This means players like Phil Ofosu-Ayeh, Richmond Boakye Yiadom, Samuel Appiah, John Antwi, Thomas Partey amongst others will get the chance to impress the tactician
