A 115-year-old woman who is believed to be the oldest living person in Europe said eating raw eggs and staying single helped her become a super-centenarian. UPI reports:

Italian Emma Morano, who is listed as the fifth-oldest living person in the world by the Gerontology Research Group, said part of her secret to long life was staying single after her first marriage ended in 1938.

“I didn’t want to be dominated by anyone,” Morano told The New York Times.

She said her doctor recommended she eat three raw eggs a day to counter her anemia when she was a teenager, and she has kept up with the recommendation — amounting to roughly 100,000 eggs in her lifetime.

Morano said long life runs in her family; one of her sisters lived to the age of 102 and the other died just short of 100.
