Powerful: Godfred Donsah earns high praise for Torino show

He may be just 18 years old but Godfred Donsah is gradually building a clout as one of the best attacking midfielders in the tough Italian Serie A.

The Ghanaian youngster who has now claimed a regular starting spot in Giafranco Zola’s Cagliari side was at his best again on Sunday striking home the goal to give his side the lead in their match day 23 1-1 draw at Torino.

It’s the same goal struck with a bullet strike from outside the ’18’ box and the fitting celebration he exhibited afterwards that has rightly won Allsports.com.gh ‘s goal of the week gong.

But Donsah has earned even higher praise in the Italian media following the man-of-the-match display for Cagliari at the Olympic Stadium in Turin.

In their player ratings for the game, Donsah was credited with a near perfect rating of 8.5 by the website, ForzaItalianfootball.com with some nice words to match in a citation.

“Godfred Donsah – 8.5 – Powerful,” the ratings headlined the section dedicated to the 18 year old Ghanaian star.

“Scored a magnificent goal to break the deadlock. A superb performance, displaying pace and athleticism as well as a determination to get back and help his defence out,” the citation summed up Donsah’s output on the day.

The 18 year old has now made 14 appearances (seven straight starts) in Serie A for Cagliari and has also now scored two goals to boot as he helps the club’s push to rise above the relegation zone. Follow @thedonplato
