Peace Town is a little community tucked away in Amanfro in the Ga South District of the Greater Accra Region but residents there have known no peace.
Joy News’ Beatrice Adu reports of the avalanche of armed robbery attacks which have kept the residents in fear.
The residents say the name Peace Town does not in anyway reflect the situation on the ground.
Benjamin Appiah, who has been living in the area for several years recounted how his family house was attacked by gun wielding armed robbers, last Wednesday.
He said he handed over an amount of GHS 400 and phone credit to the attackers but that was still not enough for them.
The robbers stabbed him on the chest with a pair of scissors but he survived the attack.
An elderly woman, popularly called Mama Jane was also attacked at dawn by armed robbers, residents reported.
She was badly beaten and left with blooding oozing from her forehead.
Assembly man of the Ngleshi Amanfro electoral area, Zack Ali blames the sad situation on the absence of a police station in Peace Town.
He said there is only one police station sited miles away from Peace Town which has only one vehicle serving the entire community.
According to him, anytime they call on the police to assist in times of such difficulties they are told there are no logistics.
Zack Ali would rather the members of the community come together to form a community watchdog committee to protect themselves.
