Muna Obiekwe’s kidney failure was caused by high blood pressure – Step sister

A step sister of late Muna Obiekwe, identified as Chinwe Obiekwe, has shed more light on events leading to the untimely death of the popular Nollywood actor who lost his life to kidney failure on Sunday, January 18, 2015.

According to Chinwe, who spoke in an interview with Inside Nollywood, Muna had to battle the issue of high blood pressure which she said became a burden to him due to the stress of being on set.

That, she believes, trigged the kidney failure which ultimately led to his sudden death.

“I’m his step sister, same father from different mothers, his illness started in October 2014, it wasn’t a normal kidney failure, it was high blood pressure that led to the kidney problem, the two kidneys failed. If it was normal kidney failure, it would be one but he was using his drugs but stress of being on set and locations, he never had time to take his drugs properly.”

Speaking further, she said her uncles based outside Nigeria were planning to come back to Nigeria to arrange the transplant for the late actor before his unexpected death.

“My uncles were planning to come back to Nigeria and operate on him and carry out the transplant on him, but unfortunately he died before they could put the process in place.”

Later Muna Obiekwe, who acted in several Nollywood movie, among them a few controversial ones, was buried on Tuesday, February 3, 2015.
