MTN Save A Life Campaign Targets 700 Pints Of Blood For Blood Bank


Telecommunication giant, MTN, in collaboration with Ecobank has organized a blood donation exercise in Accra to replenish the National Blood Bank at Korle Bu, Ridge Hospital, Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, Effia Nkwanta and the Tamale Teaching Hospitals.

The exercise, which is an annual Valentine’s Day blood donation exercise by MTN, dubbed “Save a Life Campaign” has been organized in other part of the country, Kumasi, Shama, Takoradi and Tamale.

Staff of MTN, Ecobank and the general public came out in their numbers to donate blood spontaneously to support a worthy course.

Mrs. Cynthia Lumor, Executive Director, MTN Ghana Foundation for Save a Life Campaign, speaking at the event said, as part of its corporate social responsibility, MTN is excited for the 6th time running to bring its staff and the general public to voluntarily donate blood to support hospitals in the country.

She said that blood is very essential for the survival of human life and it is important to always support blood donations.

She stated that the blood donation exercises organized over the years has generated over 1,000 pints of blood.

She added that, last year 625 pints of blood were collected exceeding the 125 pints target, stating that, 700 pints is expected this year.

Mrs. Cynthia Lumor appealed to all Ghanaians to at any time donate blood because it will go a long way to save life.

Other partners of the Save a Life Campaign includes Coca Cola, Tobinco Pharmaceuticals, Dapaska Enterprise, Central Car Park Complex, Nanaba Enterprise, Gold Street Company Ltd, Maranatha Christian Advocacy and EmbalinksTelekoms.
