Debut BECE Re-Sit Takes Off Today


Over a thousand candidates will be taking part in the maiden Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) re-sit for private candidates today.

The BECE re-sit which has been described as a ‘novelty’ will provide an opportunity to candidates who failed to achieve pass marks at their first attempt and could not progress to the Senior High School.

The examinations will be taking place at 11 examination centres throughout Ghana. Seventy-five examiners will mark the examination scripts between March 25 and April 20, 2015, and the results are expected to be released in May 2015.

The Western region recorded the highest number of registered candidates (276) with the Upper East Region registering the lowest number of registered candidates (28).

According to the Principal Public Affairs Officer of WAEC, Agnes Teye-Cudjoe, all is set for the examination.

The examination is scheduled to end Friday, February 20, 2015.
