Bernard Mensah went away empty-handed again, failing to get his name on the scoresheet as Vitoria Guimaraes were eked out by FC Porto by two goals to nil.
The Ghanaian youngster’s last league goal came way back on 14th September against FC Porto at the EstÃ¡dio Dom Afonso Henriques.
In other words, he has yet to score in five months having featured in 18 games since his all important goal in that 1-1 drawn game.
With the same number of games, Mensah’s side have won seven, lost six and four times. They have scored 23 goals and conceded 13 in the process.
There can be no doubt that the Ghanaian attacking midfielder cum striker tried every which way to end his barren run this weekend. However, he never looked completely sharp and was kept out by the stalwart Porto defence.
With the goals not going in, Mensah’s highlights against the Galicians were a sensational. he showcased a bit of his skills and his performance on the night rightly won him a place in Allsports.com.gh’s team of the week.
His imprint in the Primeira Liga, however, has been clear as he is rated as one of the best youngsters in the league.
Mensah has assisted six times and has also contributed four goals to their campaign.
