Match Preview: Hearts of Oak host AS Police today


Accra Hearts of Oak will host Benin side AS Police at the Accra Sports Stadium in the preliminary round of the 2015 CAF Confederation Cup on Sunday.

TEAM NEWS:
Gilbert Fiamenyo is likely to make a return to the Hearts team after missing out the midweek game due to

sickness. Defender Vincent Atinga is also recovering from a cut on his forehead.

Emmanuel Hayford is still recovering from the ankle injury he picked up in the game against Medeama on match-day 3 of the League.

MATCH PREVIEW:
Hearts of Oak will be making a return to Africa inter club championship for the first time since 7 years. The capital based club are struggling in the ongoing Ghanaian season whiles AS Police in their domestic league, are leading their league table after 5 games.

Hearts will be playing against a Benin side for the first time in almost three decades. The former Ghanaian champions last beat Lions de l’Atakory, Benin Champions in 1984, 4-0 on aggregate in the Africa Club Champions Cup (now Africa Champions League) in the first round of the 1985 competition. But AS Police will be making their debut appearance in the CAF inter club championship in their Sunday’s game against Hearts of Oak.

Hearts of Oak coach, Herbert Addo ahead of the game said: “We are ready [for Africa] otherwise we will not have participated in the first place. There have been one or two not so good results so far in the local league but that does not deter me and I am sure it will not deter the players, because between now and the time we play, there will a lot of challenges and I think we have to produce. No matter, we will have to produce whether we know about AS Police or not. I think the boys are focused for the match, and God willing, we will do something,’ said coach Herbert Addo.

Stanislas Akele, AS Police gaffer also said ahead of the Sunday’s game thatย  Hearts of Oak should be very careful on Sunday as his team came to play good football and also to win.

PLAYERS TO WATCH:
Certain players must be watched with keen interest; for Hearts of Oak definitely it will beย  their leading marks man, Gilbert Fiamenyo and their tireless midfielder Richard Yamoah whiles for AS Police, it will beย  20 years old attacker, Miracob Tchato and 19 year old winger, Dihibril Naim .
