CAF Confederation Cup Round up: Petrojet win away; RS Berkane, URA stay

Visiting Egyptian side, Petrojet nicked a crucial away win in their first leg clash of the preliminary round of the 2015 Orange CAF Confederation Cup, beating Al Ghazala of South Sudan 1-0 on Friday in Juba.

Midfielder Mostafa Shebeita scored the only goal on the half-hour mark to give Petrojet a seemingly firm cushioning ahead of the return leg in a fortnight in Suez.

Elsewhere in the northeastern Moroccan city of Berkane, local side Renaissance Berkane laboured to a 2-1 win over Malian visitors Onze Createurs. Mohamed Aziz scored in either half before Souleymane Sissoko grabbed a crucial away goal for the guests in the closing stages.

At the 11 November Stadium in Luanda, Benfica Luanda made light work of Le Messager de Ngozi of Burundi. After wasting a flurry of chances, Fabrizio’s first half brace was enough to land the hosts victory.

In Kampala, ten-man Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) twice came from behind to beat their Malagasy opponents, ASSM Elgeco. All five goals were scored in the second half with the opener just a minute after Jonathan Mugabi was sent off in the 48th minute for Jose Rakotomavo in the vital area.

Substitute Yvon Njilamana scored the opener for a lead which lasted few minutes before striker Striker Robert Ssentongo restored parity for URA on 65 minutes.

The homers’ joy was short-lived and the visitors went up again three minutes later courtesy Danny Rajaorimanana from the spot. Ssentongo leveled for the second time on 75 minutes before substitute Frank Kalanda netted the winner ten minutes before time.
