Arrivederci Inter: Alfred Duncan pledges future to Sampdoria

Alfred Duncan has settled down to life at Sampdoria, so much the 21 year old Ghanaian midfielder is already hailing six months at the Blucerchiati over four years spent on the books of Inter Milan.

Duncan joined Sampdoria on a 6-month loan from Inter Milan at the beginning of the current campaign, the deal was extended to the end of the season in the January transfer window after playing more Serie A games in the period than he did in all of his time at Inter combined.

Now it appears Duncan who has made 13 appearances for Sampdoria already, has made up his mind to make the Stadio Comunale Luigi Ferraris his permanent home after revealing he is enjoying every minute at Sampdoria as they chase qualification for European football next season.

“I’m happy with the time spent at Inter but now with Sampdoria and I’m happy to play here,” Duncan was quoted on the Sampdoria website via an interview with SkySport 24.

“I’m enjoying this good period, I am also very happy with what we’re doing at Sampdoria,” the Ghana player added.

Ahead of their Serie A match day 23 game away to Chievo Verona, Sampdoria sit in 5th and the last European qualification spot and Duncan who was joined at the club this week by compatriot, Afriyie Acquah, insists Sampdoria will push till the end.

“Our goals? We aim always to remain at the top, we do not care who is behind us and we’ll see where we are at the end of the championship,” Duncan said.

The 21 year old Ghanaian is also fired up for the big game against Chievo on Sunday.

“The derby is important for the city and for the fans, but it is a game with three points at stake as any other game. If you ask the coach, I wish to play well against Chievo, God willing,” Duncan said. Follow @thedonplato
