Ebo Barton Odro
First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Ebo Barton Odro has rubbished claims that he has said business owners should not blame the energy crisis for the collapse of their businesses.
The website of Accra based Citi FM had reported on its website that Ebo Barton Odro had stated at the launch of a colleague MP’s book that businesses were collapsing not because of the power crisis, but the ineptitude of the business owners.
According to him, the businesses need to analyze themselves and find out the actual reasons for failing and not just blame it on ‘dumsor’.
‘If business owners are unable to implement, then we are not getting anywhere and that is why I talked about the assessment. Why did you fail in this regard and what can you do to better your lot the next around? We need to measure all these things and that is why quite a number of businesses, and I am not saying all businesses tend to end up collapsing prematurely. I don’t think they go through this kind of processes,’ he said.
But Mr. Odro has stated categorically on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem Tuesday that he did not say anything about the power crisis during the launch or after.
‘I didn’t say anything on the ongoing power crisis and so I am very much surprised to be quoted as saying something like that. I never made such a statement.
‘I cannot allow them to tarnish my image and so I will advice myself. It is very painful’ he moaned.
Asked by show host Captain Smart what he thinks about the deteriorating power crisis, he said ‘I don’t produce energy and so I won’t say anything about it’.
