Nii Amasah Namoale, Member of Parliament (MP) for La Dadekotopon has strongly condemned Mahama Ayariga, Sports Minister for slighting journalists in the country.
The Sports Minister on Thursday took journalists to the cleaners, accusing some of them of asking ‘useless question’.
Speaking in an interview on Adom FM, an Accra-based radio station, following his AFCON budget presentation in Parliament on Wednesday, Mahama Ayariga who had previously flared up on other media outlets said curtly: “Morning show hosts ask useless questions on this budget. It is not my duty to be responding to useless questions…Journalists have not been fair to the Black Stars. I will stand and defend the team [Black Stars] anytime. Instead of them [journalists] to talk about the achievements made by the boys, they rather talk rubbish.”
Reacting to this during a panel discussion on PEACE FM morning show ‘Kokrokoo’, the MP for La Dadekotopon asked the Sports Minister to refrain from insulting the media.
According to him, “You can never fight the media…exercise some restraint and talk to them…it is highly condemnable. You cannot fight journalists and win”.
