Sit up: Herbert Addo bemoans Hearts goalkeeping lapses

Herbert Addo has complained about the goalkeeping problems that have hit Accra Hearts of Oak in recent times, following the Black Satellites goalkeeper’s poor showing in their 1-2 home defeat to New Edubiase on Wednesday.

The Phonians were expected to earn their first win in Accra in the ongoing First Capital Plus Premier League after their return from two-match home ban and a victory over their archrivals Asante Kotoko in Kumasi last weekend, but goals from the twin brothers Alhassan and Fuseini Nuhu secured New Edubiase a 2-1 victory; thanks to poor goalkeeping from Mutawakilu Seidu.

‘I was so sad, after he (Mutawakilu) committed an unpardonable blunder, so I told him that as a national team goalkeeper, he shouldn’t concede such goals.

‘We have been working on him and encouraging him, but now that he is conceding these goals, his confidence would go down.

The former Inter Allies coach, added that the presence of the Burkinabe goalkeeper, Soulama Abdoulaye would help his side Hearts of Oak solve their goalkeeping deficiencies.

‘Whiles we work on Mutawakilu Seidu, we are very lucky to have an old and experienced goalkeeper (Soulama Abdoulaye) and is also up to the task, so hopefully he will push his head in to help us,’ Herbert Addo added.
