As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives, and in fulfilment of its promise at its launch in April 2014, Prudential Life Ghana, part of Prudential Plc established Prudential Actuarial Support System (PASS) which aims at facilitating the development of Actuarial Science training and learning in Ghana.

An embodiment of the PASS initiative is the Annual Actuarial Science Seminar which Prudential instituted to provide industry information to students of KNUST and UCC. The maiden event happened this year on the 4th and 5th February, 2015 in Cape Coast and Kumasi Respectively.

The two-day event which was attended by over 650 students from both universities was under the topic: Product Pricing. Three main speakers graced the occasion; Robert Laux, the chief product officer at Prudential Plc, An actuary bred in the London office with extensive experience in product development across Europe, Asia and Africa spoke on what Prudential looks for in Actuarial Students and also Product Pricing in Ghana.

Raxit Soni of Prudential Kenya, also an actuary spoke extensively on Product Pricing with practical insight into product development, pricing and its marketing and the need for financial models in introducing insurance products.

Kwame Osei, a former director of SSNIT, currently an actuary consultant and a Board Member of Prudential Ghana was on hand to explain actuarial science, practice and theory within the Ghanaian context.

This event comes on the back of Prudential Life Ghana awarding 5 students each last academic year in both universities and offering internship opportunity to students who excel in their studies.
