Man Sent To Jail For Attempted Adultery

A 43-year-old man, Tijjani Saleh, was Thursday arraigned by the police in Kano, before a Sharia court for adultery.

Saleh was charged for seducing a married woman and attempting to commit adultery, an offence contrary to Sections 187 and 119 of the Shari’a law.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the prosecutor, Cpl. Ahmed Magawata told the court sitting in Sabon Gari Yan’ alluna, Kano, that on Feb. 3, one Alhaji Sabi’u Muhammad of Rijiyar Lemo reported the matter at the Bachirawa Police Division, Kano.
The report said Saleh of Rijiyar Lemo quarters tricked the wife of Muhammad, one Magajiya Shehu, to his home.

The report explained that Magajiya was invited through the social media after meeting Saleh on the network. He allegedly hugged the woman and attempted to abuse her womanhood.

Saleh pleaded guilty to the charge and was sentenced to one year imprisonment by the presiding Judge, Malam Abubakar Ayagi. He was also ordered to be flogged three strokes of the cane on his buttocks.
