Sad return: Black Stars get heroes welcome

Hundreds of Soccer fans thronged to the Kotoka International Airport to welcome the senior national soccer team, Black Stars, for their gallant display of the just ended African Cup of Nations.

Goalkeeper Boubacar Barry scored the decisive goal as Ivory Coast ended a 23-year Africa Cup of Nations title drought by winning 9-8 on penalties after the final ended 0-0 following extra time.

The Gallant Black Stars team was led by inspirational Captain Asamoah Gyan, who was raised on the shoulders after they touched down at the tarmacs of the International Airport.

The team arrived on Monday at the Kotoka Interntional Airport( KIA) and were received by the vice President of Ghana Amissah Arthur.

‘The playing body and the technical team have made all of us proud, we didn’t expect the team to go far and we did.

‘The entire Nation wants you to keep your head up and cheer up because you were the best among the rest of the team’s, we are glad you didn’t fail but you made a statement for us all to see’.
