Ghana Premier League: Hearts of Oak pick Club of the Week Award

Accra Heart of Oak  left the Kumasi Sports stadium on Saturday with all three points having subjected arch rivals Asante Kotoko to their most embarrassing league defeat this season leaving Masud-Didi Dramani and his men in a profound soul searching as to what went wrong for a team that boasts of some of the best players in the Ghana premier league and the fact that this defeat took place at Kotoko’s home ground makes this win a spectacular one for the second most successful Ghanaian club.

The victory has seen Herbert Addo’s side pick the  Ghana premier league Club of the Week  award with  5, 018.75 ranking points , a record ranking points tally since the inception of this Club of the Week ranking by   and it is a true reflection in that, the Phobians emerged victorious in the top-liner of Day 6 with  Selasie Adjei  slotting in the only goal of the game after just nine minutes and there is no win more savored by Hearts of Oak than that one against sworn enemies Kotoko.

The huge points tally of Hearts of Oak is clearly explained by the fact that they defeated the defending champions of the league, won the biggest game of Week 6, picked an away win and more importantly kept a clean sheet.

Again Kotoko’s Opposition strength was at 1.375(5th place on table) and were theoretically stronger than Hearts of Oak who were just one place above the relegation zone with an O.S of 0.375(very weak) but it was the visiting Hearts that proved more determined and hungrier for a win.

Ashgold  are the second headline makers with  393.75 points  this week thanks to another away victory as  Yakubu Mohammed  solitary effort defeated Liberty at the Dansoman park.

It is no surprise to see Hearts of Oak and Ashgold atop the rankings as the two clubs were the only ones to win away from home on match-day six.

At Accra,  Olympics  beat one of the good starters to the new season, Hasaacas 2-0 to be ranked third best performed side  as the Wonder Club saw their most emphatic win of the season over Hasaacas who went into this game as the 2nd placed team on the league log.
