SPACO authorities undecided over school’s reopen day after shutdown


Authorities at Saint Paul’s Boys Senior High School at Denu in the Volta Region are to set a committee on Monday to determine re-opening date of the school.

The school was closed down following disturbances that led to the death of a first year student after he was accidentally shot by the police.

Two boys were allegedly caught in a homosexual act by their colleagues who wanted to beat them up.

The school authorities however shielded the two, an action that the outraged students who turned their fury on some school property.

Windscreens of cars were shattered and other valuable school properties were destroyed.

The authorities invited the police who fired warning shots to disperse the rioting students and in the process shot a first year student.

The Police have arrested the two boys suspected to be engaging in the homosexual acts.

They have also begun investigations into the matter.

Francis Kofi Hlogbey, Headmaster of the school said the school was closed down to save property and lives.

He cannot say when the school will be reopening but said they will meet on Monday to discuss the way forward.
