Off to the Gulf: Sadat Bukari signs for Saudi side, Al Shoala

Sadat Bukari has began an almost mission impossible stint in Saudi Arabia after the former Heart of Lions striker surprisingly signed for Saudi Professional League side, Al Shoala after parting company with Romania’s Astra Giurgiu last month.

Bukari was heavily linked with a switch to Ukranian side, Metalist Kharkov even before he agreed with Astra to cancel by mutual consent, his contract which was due to expire in the summer.

But it’s believed Metalist who reportedly offered 400,000 Euros could not meet the striker’s demands, and Al Shoala who are fighting for survival in the Saudi Professional League pounced.

Details of the deal remain scanty but it’s believed Bukari who signed as a free agent, was a handed a hefty cheque to bang in the goals that will ensure survival of Al Shoala in the top flight of Saudi Arabian football.

Al Shoala currently sit rock bottom of the 14-team league table on a mere 9 points from 14 games with 12 matches to go. They have won just two games, having scored only 11 goals, letting in 23.

It’s not all a dead story for Al Shoala though who are just two points from safety and are hoping on the goals of Sadat Bukari to plot a successful relegation escape.

Bukari joins two other Ghanaians, defender Ahmed Adams (formerly of Berekum Chelsea) and striker Samuel Owusu on the books of Al Shoala. Follow @thedonplato
