AsantiGold consolidated their place at the summit of the Ghana Premier League after narrowly beating Liberty Professionals 1-0 at the Sly Tetteh Memorial Park in Dansoman on Saturday afternoon.
Yakubu Mohammed scored his first goal of the season since his return to the Obuasi-based side with a fabulous finish.
The 25-year-old, who returned from South Africa after failing on a spell with Maritzburg United, scored on the second minute mark with a fine finish, confidently tucking the ball home from close range.
Liberty also had former Ghana U20 forward Kennedy Ashia who has scored two goals this season in the game.
The win has ensured the Miners maintain their three point lead at the top of the table with Aduana Stars firmly pursuing them from close range.
