AFCON2015 Final: Ghana – Cote d’Ivoire Combined XI

GK Sylvain Gbouohou – The newly signed TP Mazembe goalkeeper has been the outstanding goalkeeper of the tournament with his superb reflexes keeping the Elephants in games when they have not played well.A remarkable rise for a goalkeeper who already looks better than the soon to be retired Boubacar Barry.

RB Serge Aurier- Started the tournament slowly but his quality has shown through as the Elephants progressed.A solid defensive presence for a fragile back line.A major attacking threat as well with his pace and excellent delivery from the right flank.

CB Jonathan Mensah- Ghana’s defensive leader can be a frustrating mix but with his team in the final,it is hard to deny him his place in this team.

CB Kolo Toure- The old war horse of the Ivorian defense is playing in his final AFCON and has benefitted from Herve Renard’s three man back line.Has looked assured.

LB Baba Rahman – The Augsburg man has been efficient and that is what Ghana has needed.Provides attacking width as well.

CM Serey Die- Arguably Cote d’Ivoire’s player of the tournament. His infectious energy and ferocious tackling have been in full throttle this AFCON

CAM Yaya Toure – Delivers when it matters most as he showed in the semi final. His kind of talent and quality is all to rare within the African game.

RW Christian Atsu- Equatorial Guinea has been Atsu’s breakout tournament even though he has been a regular for almost two years now.His mix of pace, trickery and goals has pushed Ghana to the verge of history.

LW Gervinho- A counter attacking machine, his pace and elusiveness is what makes the Elephants tick.

FW Andre Ayew- Has not been spectacular but has operated solidly.Scores goals and is a man for the big occasion.

FW Wilfried Bony- Daddy Cool has been super cool with his finishing this AFCON and picked his moments well.Has linked up attack well for the Elephants.
