AFCON 2015: Ghana Vs Ivory Coast, Who Wins?


Ghana clinched a place in the final of the Africa Cup of Nations with a 3-0 win over Equatorial Guinea. The Black Stars will meet the Elephants of Ivory Coast in the final of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations on Sunday.

The Elephants reached their third Africa Cup of Nations final in nine years after proving too strong for DR Congo and will face the indomitable force of the Black Stars.

Goals from Striker Jordan Ayew, Mubarak Wakaso and Andre Dede Ayew in the 42nd, 45th and 75th were enough for the Stars’ to book its place in the finals.

Chaos descended as the game entered its closing stages, with the game suspended for close to 30 minutes because of crowd trouble. Objects were thrown by Equatorial Guinea fans at the players and the referees.

The home players pleaded for calm in the stands before the resumption but they were unable to negotiate a way back into the match.

The game was like a “war zone”, the Ghana Foobal Association has described.

Ghana supporters gathered on the running track behind one of the goals as they attempted to escape the missiles, while police used a helicopter and tear gas to disperse the offending fans.

Avram Grantโ€™s side will meet the Elephants in final for the second time after the Ivorians beat Ghana in the finals when Senegal hosted the tournament in 1992.

Cote d’Ivoire won its first championship, beating Ghana on penalty kicks 11โˆ’10 after a goalless draw.
