Ugly scenes: Ghana vs Equatorial Guinea halted for 20+ minutes due to violence

The plaudits, the praise and all the good work done totally tarnished by a section of the fans who attended the semi-final game between Ghana and Equatorial Guinea.

Ghana played against host nation Equatorial Guinea who were awarded a controversial penalty against Tunisia in the quarter final, causing uproar from the north African country.

On Thursday, a very fair game turned sour with image tarnishing scenes as the match between Ghana and Equatorial Guinea was halted for over 20 minutes due to misbehaving fans for the host nation.

Ghana took a lead from the spot via Jordan Ayew before Mubarak Wakaso doubled going into the first half break. Captain Andre Ayew made it 3-0 nil for the Black Stars.

Fans who were already throwing items unto the pitch after the first goal of the game intensified their misbehaving causing the centre referee to halt the match.

Police helicopters and tear gas had to be triggered to put the fans at the stadium to order before the game could continued till the end.

Ugly scenes it was. Hear what you may but the football game in itself was fun.
