Omane Boamah takes over as Mahamas spokesperson

The Communications Minister, Dr. Omane Boamah has taken over from Ben Dotsei Malor as the spokesperson of President John Mahama.

This was contained in a press statement released Wednesday which also explained that Mr. Malor had returned to the United Nations due to the expiration of his one year contract at the Presidency.

“Having completed the term of the contract, Mr. Malor is returning to the United Nations, from where he had taken a one-year leave of absence,” a statement signed by chief of staff Prosper Bani said on Wednesday.

‘…Until further notice, the Minister for Communications will now serve as Spokesperson for the President,’ the statement added.

The Statement from the presidency came days after rumours were rife on social media platforms and a section of the media that Mr. Malor and Executive Secretary to the President, Raymond Atuguba had resigned due to unhealthy working relations with the Chief of Staff and other senior figures at the Flagstaff House.

Further changes are expected at the Flagstaff House over the next few days with some senior figures likely to fall.
