Crocked Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has risked the wrath of Gunners boss Arsene Wenger after being photographed holding a shisha pipe.
A picture of the 23-year-old clutching the pipe at a London nightclub has surfaced on Twitter after it was posted on Instagram last week before being deleted.
This is the third time in his career that Wilshere has been involved in a smoking row.
In 2013 he was spotted outside a London nightclub holding a cigarette, and just a year later, at a party following England’s World Cup exit, he was seen smoking in a swimming pool in Las Vegas.
Arsene Wenger defended Wilshere’s actions in July last year, saying: “You make a case of Jack Wilshere, but I believe he’s like any other player.
“He will face competition and if he’s really fit then he has a good chance to play and it’s exactly the same for everybody.”
However, in October 2013, following Wilshere’s first slip-up, Wenger said he “completely disagreed” with his player’s behaviour.
Wilshere is currently sidelined following ankle surgery in December and could return to first-team action by the end of February.
It’s not the first smoking storm Arsenal have been involved in a smoking debate recently.
Goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny was fined £20,000 for smoking in the showers after a game.
He was caught lighting up following Arsenal’s New Year’s Day defeat at Southampton – to the fury of boss Arsene Wenger, who was already raging over the keeper’s error-strewn horror show.
Szczesny was dropped for the next game, the FA Cup tie with Hull, although Wenger was always intending to give David Ospina a run in the competition.
