Match report: Hearts, Liberty share the spoils

Accra Hearts of Oak on match day 5 played a 1-1 draw game with Liberty Professionalsย  in the ongoing First Capital Plus Bank Premier League at the Accra sports stadium on Wednesday.

In the early stages of the game it was boring but it was the Phobians who were asking questions but the agility of Daniel Agyei kept Liberty Professionals in the game.

Liberty Professionals started warming themselves into the game with a neat passing football which on many occasions opened the defensive shell of the Phobians. The Dansoman based side nearly shot into the lead in the 15th after Taminu Muntari low shot hit the post but the rebound was perfectly parried away by Mutawakilu Seidu.

Theย persistent passing game on the part of Liberty Professional yielded dividend in the 19th minute after Kennedy Ashia’s defensive breaking pass found Tamimu Muntari who took his time in the Hearts of Oak area by rounding off Mutawakilu Seidu to slot home the first goal.

ย Liberty Professionals should have doubled their lead as the Phobians found no clue to the away side’s attacking machinery,ย  with the first half ending 1-0 advantage the Dansoman lads.

From the recess, Hearts of Oak took the game to Liberty Professionals by pitching camp at the half of the away side with a lot ferocious attack but the defensive network of Liberty Professionals seemed stronger. The Phobians never despaired as they kept on probing for the equalizer which eventually came late in the game after a well floated free-kick from Shaun October was headed into the blind side of Daniel Agyeiย byย Richard Yamoah.

A minute later, Hearts of Oak nearly doubled their lead but Gilbert Fiamenyo blasted the ball over the bar as the game ended 1-1.
