Fired up for the Blucerchiati: Afriyie Acquah can’t wait for Sampdoria challenge

Afriyie Acquah can’t wait to pull on the colours of Sampdoria as he seeks to fulfil a childhood dream of playing in the UEFA Champions’ League.

The 22 year old completed a loan move to the Serie A side from Parma on transfer deadline day with Sampdoria getting the option to buy him on a permanent at the end of the season.

“The UC Sampdoria announces that it has acquired on temporary basis from Parma FC, the sports rights of the player Ebenezer Afriyie Acquah (born in Accra, Ghana, January 5, 1992),” a statement said on the Sampdoriua official website.

“The midfielder – whose card is the property of TSG 1899 Hoffenheim – is currently in Equatorial Guinea with the Ghana and will make available to (Sampdoria coach) Sinisa Mihajlovic once the experience in the African Cup of Nations in 2015,” the statement concluded.

Acquah joins compatriot, Alfred Duncan who has made 11 appearances for Sampdoria this season on loan from Inter Milan.

And after putting pen on paper to officially seal the deal from the Black Stars camp in Equatorial Guinea Acquah was in buoyant mood in an exclusive interview with Allsports.com.gh .

“Yes I’m happy to sign for Sampdoria because next year they are going to play Champions League so I think it’s a good idea to sign for them,” Acquah said.

“Its my dream to play in the Champions’ League so I am happy, very very happy,” Acquah added.

Acquah is meanwhile focused on the job at hand with the national team at the continental soccer showpiece where bar a substitute cameo in Ghana’s opening game defeat to Senegal, the youngster has impressed in starting all three of the Black Stars victorious matches since.

Thursday is another battle against surprise hosts, Equatorial Guinea for a place in Sunday’s final as the Black Stars chase a first ever Africa title since 1982.

“After beating Algeria, we believe the cup is not far from coming to Ghana. After topping such a group, the next thing is only to bring the cup home,” Acquah previoulsy told Allsports.com.gh . Follow @thedonplato
