National Service person shot by unknown gunmen


A 26-year-old national service person, Daniel Dake escaped death Monday when unknown gunmen stormed his rented apartment at about 10pm.

Daniel, who is currently in serious condition at the Volta Reg Hospital informed JoyNews he went out to brush his teeth before bed and noticed three men loitering about the compound.

According to him, he noticed that one of them was carrying a gun and rushed into his room, whereupon he began shouting for help.

The poor boy was shot after he stepped out to investigate and was set upon by the men.

Respondents to the scene suggest that a procurement officer at the Ho Municipal Hospital, Helen Boafo, may have been the intended target.

According to them, the armed men had been shouting and banging on her door before they set upon the young man.  

They added that Daniel’s shouts for help, and his ‘diversion’ saved Helen’s life.

Police are currently investigating the case.
