Injury update: Avram Grant wants CAF ban for Guinea’s Yattara

Avram Grant has asked for CAF to ban Guinean goalkeeper Naby Yattara after his stomp on Asamoah Gyan in the quarter final of the AFCON on Sunday.

The striker was involved in a clash with Guinean goalkeeper in the dying embers of the game leading to a red card for the Guinean goalie.

According to Ghana coach Avram Grant, the incident provides an opportunity for the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to set an example.

“What happened with this goalkeeper and what he did to Asamoah Gyan is an opportunity forĀ everybodyĀ at CAF to show how they protect their players. A goalkeeper when it’s 3-0 could deliberately maybe finish the career of Asamoah Gyan because I can tell you that 2 cm lower and Asamoah Gyan would not be able to play for many years.I think that CAF need to take a decision and ban this player for many many years.First it is a bad injury, second when you do it with the score at Ā 3-0 in the last minuteĀ thenĀ youĀ do not respect the game and you do not respect your friend.”

Ghana plays the hosts,Equatorial Guinea for a chance at a ninth AFCON final on Thursday with the Black Stars favourite to overcome a confident home side riding an emotional wave.
