Ghana boss, Avram Grant is refusing to be drawn into the potential impact of refereeing on the outcome of Ghana’s semi final game against hosts Equatorial Guinea on Thursday.
The Black Stars go up against the surprise package of the tournament but after their controversial win over Tunisia in the quarter finals, there are fears amongst some football fans that the referee could have a major bearing on the outcome of the game.
Tunisia were furious with the officiating against the hosts, claiming they had clearly been robbed while Guinea captain Ibrahim Traore has told Ghana to prepare for fight not just against the hosts but the referee too.
But Grant is refusing to crank up the pressure anymore on the referees. ‘I want to believe everything outside the pitch is good. I want to believe that apart from one or two games the refereeing has been good so I believe that everything will go well,’ the Israeli said.
Grant is keen to focus on the strength of his own team which he says has learnt to stay focused throughout 90 minutes of football. He is however weary of the hosts who have stunned everyone by reaching the last four.
‘It will not be easy because every team that has qualified for the semi-finals is favourite. I want to focus on my team,” he noted.
