Akorfa, Paulina Oduro, Others Join Monologue Culture

Veteran actress Akorfa Ejeani Asiedu and Paulina Oduro were part of the several persons who turned up to perform at this year’s Monologue Culture ceremony held at Hollywood Boulevard at the A&C Mall last Thursday.

The ceremony, dubbed ‘Mono Slam’, was to create a platform for people, especially actors, to express themselves through monologue.

It was put together by Creative Minds, a social group which started on Whatsapp and has members comprising directors, actors, producers, musicians and art writers.

The group meets often to connect and discuss issues of creative importance.

Thursday’s Mono Slam attracted a number of creative personalities, some of whom took turns to perform their monologues with messages on sex for movie roles and others.

Among them were actors Akorfa Ejeani, Vincent McCauley, Paulina Oduro and movie director Pascal Aka among others.

‘We feel that as a creative people living in Africa, we need an outlet to be able to express ourselves and to address different issues. Some of us are actors, we are not poets, so we need to do it in straight speech or we lift a point and that makes it a part of us that we can express ourselves,’ Bex, an ordinary member of the group explained the purpose of the event.
