The Ghana Broadcasting Corporation is planning to take legal action against private-owned radio stations for running commentaries on the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations without the broadcast rights; DailySoccerGhana.com can exclusively report.

Most radio stations took advantage of GBC’s delay in the acquisition of the AFCON 2015 broadcast rights to start running commentaries on the matches without seeking the approval of the state broadcaster.

The state’s oil exploration firm, the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) sponsored GBC’s purchase of the tournament’s broadcast rights from Sportfive.

Radio stations interested in broadcasting games at the continental competition are expected to contact the GBC through Ghana Independent Broadcasters Association for the broadcast rights.
