The President and bankroller of New Edubiase United, Abdul Salam Yakubu says the club will secure its first win on Saturday when it face Brong Ahafo United in the FCP Premier League at the Len Clay Sports Stadium in Obuasi.

New Edubiase United has managed just a point in the current season out of a possible nine, and currently props up the league table.

Yakubu told Kumasi-based Fox FM that the club would announce their presence in the league by recording its first win, noting that the team performed creditably in their previous games but failed to score goals to win.

“We have only one point out of the three games we have played so far. It is not good for us but it is part of the game. I can tell you that we will get our first victory on Saturday against B.A. United in Obuasi. We played well in all our games but we couldn’t score, but I can assure you that, a different story would be told this weekend.’’

He also debunked reports in the media indicating that, the club will sack head coach Anthony Commey if he fails to secure a victory over B.A. United, noting that the club would rather terminate his contract mutually if they see that he is no longer up to the job.

“It is not true that we have asked Commey to win this match or he would be sacked. Actually we have not mandated him with any number of matches as it is being speculated. We know he can do the job, and he also know that he has to perform. But that does not mean we cannot ask him to step down. When we realize that he is no longer performing, we can part ways with him.’’
