Defender John Boye is the first Ghanaian player to score against South Africa in an Africa Cup of Nations tournament.
The Turkey-based centre-back scored the opening goal for the Black Stars in their 2-1 comeback win over the Bafana Bafana to reach the last eight on Tuesday
Prior to beaten the South Africans, Ghana had remained winless against them in three previous AFCON matches.
The West Africans had lost two and drawn once and had not scored against their opponent. But that all changed after the Kayseri Erciyesspor defender broke the jinx.
