Controversial rapper, Emmanuel Botchway known in showbiz circles as Kwaw Kese will be going back to the Kumasi Central Prison, except that this time around, it will be to show love to the prisoners there.
Kwaw Kese, who spent five weeks at the Prison, said he will be spending Valentine’s Day with the inmates with whom he shared the crowded space.
The controversial rapper was arrested by the police in Kumasi on November 22, 2014, for allegedly smoking cannabis. He was granted bail on December 30, 2014 and will be going back to court on February 5, 2015.
Speaking in an interview on the Super Morning Show on Joy FM with Kojo Yankson Thursday, Kwaw Kese said the initiative is his way of giving back to the inmates he believes need help.
“I’m starting 2015 with love and February is just around the corner and February being a love month, I’m trying to share my love with the inmates of the Kumasi Central Prison where I was admitted for five weeks,” he said.
“Coming back from that place and seeing what they go through, I’ve decided to share my love and spend the month of love with them,” Kwaw added.
He said on February 14, he will be in Kumasi to donate some items to the inmates of the prison.
Asked what he has been up to since he was granted bail, the rapper said he is currently trying to get his health back and also let “my people know I am still working, trying do what I couldn’t do last year.”
Also known as Abodam, Kwaw Kese disclosed that he is currently working to release songs that were supposed to be released last year.
While in prison, the rapper started a campaign to educate the youth in society to stay away from drugs.
That initiative, he said, was inspired by the number of young people he saw in prison who were behind bars because of drugs and believes that they would have used their time to better the lot of Ghana instead if they were properly counselled.
