Massive fuel shortage is said to have hit the Police Service, causing the institution to ground hundreds of its operational vehicles nationwide, citifmonline.com has gathered.

According to highly placed sources in the Police Service, this has seriously affected the operations of the service, including the recently inaugurated visibility patrol programme.

The Police Service is also said to be indebted to a number of oil marketing companies who have halted supplies to the service because of non-payment.

The current shortage has hit all the commands nationwide.

When Citi News contacted the Director of Services at the Ghana Police Service, COP James Oppong Boanuh, he declined to comment on the matter.

This is not the first time the service has experienced fuel shortage.

In October,2014, the Service experienced a similar challenge for about three weeks.
