Accept Election Results In Good Faith – Sultan To Politicians

sultanThe Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, on Thursday called on politicians in the country to be prepared to accept the results of the forthcoming elections in good faith.

The sultan made the call in Sokoto while receiving the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, who visited him.

He said that accepting results of the elections should be done in the interest of the peace and unity of Nigeria.

According to him, I believe that there must be a country before a leader; if there is no country, there will be no leader.

“So, it is now a high time for all Nigerians to become united even after the elections, for the betterment of the society and the upcoming generation.

‘’Politicians should always accept and fear Allah before and after any election as He gives power to whoever He wants and at the time he wants”, he said.

The monarch also urged the candidates of the various political parties to concentrate fully on the security issues of Nigeria, especially in the north-eastern part of the country.

Speaking earlier, Buhari promised to tackle insecurity, poverty and to also fight corruption and reduce the menace to minimal level.

He pledged that his government, if elected, would give more attention to agriculture to realize a successful fight against unemployment.

Buhari appealed to the Sultanate Council to intensify efforts at making Nigeria a better country.

In his contribution, Sokoto state governor, Aliyu Wamakko, described Buhari as a man of integrity, loyalty and the only person that had the confidence of Nigerian masses.

He thanked the Sultanate council for receiving their delegation and assured that the interest of APC was a peaceful and united Nigeria. (NAN)
