APC Lauds Jonathan Over Maiduguri Visit, Says Chibok Should Be Next On His Itinerary

Borno-Jonathan

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has lauded President Goodluck Jonathan for visiting Maiduguri where he encouraged troops fighting against insurgency in Borno State and also visited the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in the state.

While the opposition party congratulated Jonathan for summoning courage to visit the terror-hit state, it said the president has several other places to visit.

In a statement released by the National Publicity Secretary of the APC in Makurdi, Benue State, on Friday, Lai Mohammed said Jonathan has to visit the families of the 59 boys killed at Federal Government College, Buni-Yadi, Yobe State on February 25, 2014. He added that Jonathan has to also visit the parents of the close to 300 girls abducted from their school in Chibok, Borno State on February 14.

Mohammed said further that the president should visit Potiskum and other towns hit by insurgent attacks in the northeast. He also needs to address the low morale of soldiers to enable them show more commitment to fighting insurgency.

The APC spokesman said if Jonathan can do all these, he will be able to lay to rest, allegations that his visit to Maiduguri was politically motivated.
