Transfer Update: Jermain Defoe joins Sunderland


Jose Mourinho opined on the transfer of Wilfried Bony to Manchester City on Friday with the Portuguese suggesting the Etihad outfit are treated differently in certain aspects of the game [Financial Fair Play].

The Chelsea manager said:
‘Good player, good striker, if they have the money they can spend the money, if they have no problem with FFP, well done. 

‘I think they can only play with 11 unless the rules for them are different and they can play with 12. It looks like rules are different for them in certain aspects but in this one I don’t think it will be different, so they can only play with 11.

‘It’s one more top player to have for that squad.’
Machester City are the closest club to Chelsea on the English Premier League log currently.

Jermain Defoe has completed his transfer move from Toronto FC to English Premier League side Sunderland.

The former Tottenham Hotspur player signed on a three-and-a-half year contract with the Stadium of Light outfit.

Defoe said after completing his transfer:
‘I am delighted to be here and I’m looking forward to the challenge. 

‘It is a great club and I’ve always enjoyed coming up here and playing against Sunderland because of the stadium and the supporters. It is a great place to play and I’m really looking forward to it.’

West Ham United are confident English Premier League rivals Liverpool will not beat them to the signing of Alex Song .

The player is currently on loan at West Ham United from  Spanish La Liga club Barcelona.

Emmanuel Adebayor is refusing to be forced out of Tottenham after becoming involved in a transfer stand-off.

Adegayor has been frozen out of Spurs’ first team, and chairman Daniel Levy is trying to offload him in the current winter window.

Galatasaray from Turkey have been reported interested in the Togolese.

Chelsea player Mohamed Salah is wanted by Italian Serie A side Roma. Inter Milan and Besiktas have also been reported intested with English Premier League clubs Queens Park Rangers, Sunderland and Stoke City wanting him on loan.
