Nayele Cocaine Saga: Kwesi Pratt Nails Asiedu Nketia

Managing editor of the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr has ridiculed General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) over certain statements he made on the Nayele cocaine saga.

In particular, Mr Pratt is intrigued by the claim that Nayele Ametefe, who has been handed an almost nine year jail term from drug trafficking in the UK, was going to fund the New Patriotic Party (NPP) with proceeds from 12 kg cocaine she took to the United Kingdom.

Nayele was arrested on November 10 at the Heathrow Airport after attempting to enter the UK with the cocaine in her hand luggage. A total of 12 people have been arrested in Ghana in connection with the case.

“And what is the other argument I’m hearing, that Nayele because she travelled at the same time the NPP was going to organise a fund raising in the UK, so was going to fund the NPP with the proceeds? Ah, adabraka…” he said on Peace FM on Friday January 16, 2016.

General Mosquito as the NDC Secretary is popularly known, had intimated in an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen show that it would not be out of place to link the cocaine issue with the NPP fund raising ceremony organised in London at the same time last year.

He continued that his logic holds more water especially as several NPP big wigs also left Ghana at the same time as Nayele and were destined for the same destination.

The comments came after General Mosquito at a press conference had accused the NPP of being complicit in the drug business.

This claim, Kwesi Pratt thinks would not benefit anyone and was rather drowning further the sinking image of Ghana on the drug issue.

He thus called on both the NPP and NDC to end the war of words on who has more links with drug barons than the other.

“Master, it is only the ordinary Ghanaian that suffers at the end of all this, so why are we fighting…,” he queried.
