South African star AKA embarks on West Africa tour

Currently number on Channel O and Trace TV with his hit single “All Eyes On Me”, South African rap star AKA hits the West African shores later this month.

The multi award winning rapper, who is dubbed the prince of rap and Doro Supa Mega, will be on a radio and promo tour in Nigeria and Ghana, aimed to connect with his fans and the music industry in Accra and Lagos.

Commencing his two-legged West African tour at Industry Nites in Lagos on Wednesday, January 28, AKA then hits Accra’s Rockstone’s Django on January 31 for a fun and electrifying live music experience.

The twenty six year old rapper, songwriter, producer and ultimate entertainer Kiernan Forbes, also known as AKA released his debut album titled ‘Altar Ego’ in 2011 and has been growing a huge fan base across Africa.

With his best-selling sophomore offering ‘Levels’, his profile has grown even larger.

The album features Nigeria’s Burna Boy, Da LES, Micasa’s J-Something and Ghana’s Sarkodie to mention a few. AKA is signed to Vth Season, a boutique full service entertainment and marketing agency based in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Vth Season MD Benza comments: “Now at the top of his game in South Africa after winning numerous awards, its only fit for AKA to share his gift with his fans in Nigeria, Ghana and the rest of Africa. After last year being named by Dj Edu of BBC 1 Xtra as the 1 African music star to make it big in the UK, we have calculated the right time to commence this tour.”

Pundits see AKA as the best African performer of this generation, having shared stages with the likes of Kanye West, D’banj, Rick Ross, Big Sean and more internationally known artists.

“AKA is an exceptional performer. His music and videos have already garnered him millions of fans and followers in the last year. The live performance will seal him as the Prince of African Urban Hip-Hop music. He is that Star for 2015 that Africa can be proud of,” concludes Benza.

AKA also plans to connect with other African artists to work some magic in the recording booth.  Recently when talking about his latest offering, the rapper mentioned that he is Pan African and wants to be the artiste that connects all Africans together through music.

“I want to go anywhere in the world and be the AKA they all know in SADC, to the highest degree,” says the ‘All Eyes On Me’ rapper.

“The USA has told their story – how many times are they going to tell us ‘I sold drugs, I went to jail… blah blah blah’. It’s time that we as Africans connect and tell our own story. This West African trip is the beginning of a long awaited story; I believe that the rest of Africa is ready to hear,” AKA added.
