“A lot of infrastructural projects have been going on all over the country and the Northern Region is receiving its fair share: just a few months ago I together with the chiefs and people of this region, cut the sod for the commencement of the upgrading of the Tamale Airport into an international Airport.”

He anticipated, “this project is expected to make Tamale a major travel hub for international travel not only for the people of the Northern Region but our neighboring countries up north, Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger.”

“I am happy to know that work on the airport is progressing steadily, and the first phase is expected to be completed by the end of this year: we are seeking the financing for phase 2,” President Mahama revealed.

He promised to upgrade the Yendi District Hospital to serve as a major health referral facility in the eastern corridor.

President Mahama thereby asked northerners to deepen their peaceful co-existence as a prerequisite for meaningful development.
