New dreams: Francis Coffie fired up for Al Merreikh

Midfielder Francis Coffie is fired up ready to reward his new club with good performances and trophies as he looks ahead to the commencement of the new Sudani Premier League season at the end of the month.

The former Asante Kotoko and Medeama player joined Sudan giants, Al Merreikh on a one-year deal in November (same day another Ghanaian, striker Augustine Okrah signed a 2-year deal with the same club) following the expiration of his contract with Ashantigold in the Ghana Premier League.

Coffie has been training and enjoying every bit of the pre-season tours of Egypt and Qatar and tells Allsports.com.gh he can’t wait for the 2015 season to kick off.

“I am here to win more cups for the club because they have been so good to me during this short time I’ve been here. I’ve enjoyed every moment so far,” Francis Coffie told us.

“I am well prepared for the league and all of my teammates at the club are also very motivated because I can see it in the pre-season performances. We started in Egypt for 20 days and now we are in Qatar expecting to touch down by 22nd January for the league,” Coffie added.

Al Merreikh who finished second to Al Hilal in the race for the 2014 Sudani Premier League title thus qualify as one of Sudan’s two representatives for the 2015 CAF Champions’ League whilst also competing for honours in the local league.

The player who previously played for Spanish second-tier side CD Leganes for a season before returning home to sign for Medeama is also entreating his countrymen to remain steadfastly behind him with their support as he seeks to make Ghana proud in Sudan.

“Please tell my fans and all Ghanaians that they should pray hard for me here so that everything will be better and sweet for me here and i promise I will also deliver on the pitch. God bless us all,” Francis Coffie signed off. Follow @thedonplato
