Nicki Minaj’s Ex Boyfriend, Safaree – “Nicki Minaj Treated Me Like An Employee, Not Her Man”

I read through this interview and I must confess that his message cut real deep.

Nicki Minaj ex boyfriend Samuels Safaree has opened up to Power 105.1 Breakfast club. Safaree talked about the reason why he broke up with Nicki and rumors surrounding their breakup.

Read excerpts from the interview below: –

When asked why he left Nicki Minaj;

He said “I just got to the point where the respect wasn’t there […] Everyone around her works for her, you know? So it got the point where it was like, I’m your man. I’m who you go to sleep with every night. I’m who you wake up with every morning. And it got to the point where I was being treated like an employee, instead of like her man.”

How he feels about Nicki’s negative comments on their breakup

“I think it’s crazy for her to be coming out now and trying to pull me down saying I’m corny,” ”I never planned on talking about nothing. I never planned to. But to publicly try to pull me down, that’s why I’m like you’re getting ridiculous. If anything, all I’ve done is uplift you publicly. When I’m going and putting tattoos of your face all over my body and showing the world that I think you’re the most amazing person you are at what you do. I would say it to her when it was just me and her and I would say it on a stage in front of 20,000 people. I don’t take away from her. You wanna acknowledge people that are trying to pull me down publicly and agree with them…When you try to pull me down and discredit what I’ve done for you, that’s what weak to me.”

“I would never do anything publicly to try to pull her down. Whatever happens between me and her one on one is what it is, that’s personal. I would never put that out there. I could be out here telling a million stories and doing cornball shit, but I’m not gonna do that and I never plan on doing that. I just think it’s crazy for her to come out now and try to pull me down and try to say I’m corny. I don’t care who you with, who you with don’t mean nothing to me. I want you to move on, because I’m moving on. I walked away from the situation.”

How he feels about Nicki giving Drake a lap dance and Kissing Nas

“That’s something that people on the outside take more as disrespect more than I did. I don’t know. maybe I’ve been dealing with that for so long that it kind of seemed like the norm to me. I got numb to it.”

On Nicki relationship rumors with Meek Mill

“If that’s who she decides to move on with, then it is what it is. I’m not mad, I’m not bitter, because if I wanted to make it work, I could’ve made it work.”

On leaving Nicki Minaj despite her fortune

“Fame and money, you can’t put a price on peace of mind.”

On helping Nicki Minaj write her punchlines

“She can take a picture with whoever she wants. She can get married tomorrow and be pregnant the next day, and I would wish her nothing but the best. But when you try to pull me down, and discredit what I’ve done for you, that’s what weak to me. Don’t say I don’t have no talent, because every time it came to writing raps and doing music, it was me, her and the beat. She don’t do it by herself.”

On rumors he wanted to commit suicide and dealing with drugs

“I definitely, definitely have been in places where I don’t wanna be here anymore.”

When asked about his new relationship

“I’m not trying to rush into a new relationship right now because I need to learn and know myself right now. I lost myself so I’m trying to build myself back up. I’m getting used to being around people again.”
