Pakistani authorities have accused a father of strangling five of his six children in an effort to gain “magic powers.” Reda more on The Huffington Post:

Newsweek Pakistan reports that Ali Nawaz Leghari, 40, of the village of Saeed Khan in Pakistan, allegedly killed two girls and three boys before fleeing.

The children ranged in age from 3- to 13-years-old.

“The man’s financial condition was bad but he was also learning black magic and it seems that he made the sacrifice to excel in the craft,” police officer Qamaruddin Rahimo said, according to Newsweek.

The Express Tribune reports that Leghari allegedly used sedatives to sedate the children and then strangled them to death.

He then took a bus to Hyderabad, Pakistan. Family members of the children told Hyderabad Ranger Dr Sanaullah Abbass that Leghari believed he could sacrifice his children to gain magic powers.

“Apparently, he was driven by his obsession with black magic,” Abbass told the Express.

Leghari is still on the loose.
