Vice Chairman of the Black Stars management committee, Kudjoe Fianoo says he thinks the players of the senior national team have struggled to adjust to the new system introduced by Coach Avram Grant ahead of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Israeli trainer deployed a 3-5-2 system in the Black Stars opening two friendly matches against Portuguese club Olhanense and Dutch club SC Cambuur and is expected to adopt the same strategy in Wednesday’s final friendly against Freiburg SC.

“Initially, it was difficult for the players (to adjust to the new system) and it showed in the second game against the Dutch side, but in the first match they adapted to the new system well,” Fianoo said.

“After that game, the Coach has been holding two training sessions with the players to make sure they get used to the new system he wants them to play because there was a gap between the defence and midfield,” the AshantiGold SC CEO added.

The Black Stars, who employed the 4-4-2 system under the immediate past Coach Kwasi Appiah, will face Senegal, Algeria and South Africa at Group C of the Equatorial Guinea 2015 tournament.
