Very close: Kotoko confirm transfer talks with Seidu Bancey

Asante Kotoko have verbally agreed terms with Seidu Bancey pending the completion of his documentation.

Bancey joined Smouha sc earlier this season with his former Kotoko team mate Abdul Aziz but after four games the coach who masterminded their transfer to the Egyptian giant was sacked and the new trainer relegated them to the sidelines, thus necessitating them to mutually part ways with the club.

George Kennedy, the Operations Manager of Kotoko has disclosed that the league champions have agreed to reunite with Bancey and would sign a deal with him after all documents to facilitate his move are made available.

‘The leadership of Kotoko has decided to seal a deal with Seidu Bancey on condition that he presents all the necessary documents to facilitate his transfer.

‘We have had talks with Seidu Bancey and are waiting for him to arrive with the right documents, after which a contract will be signed.

‘At the moment we (Kotoko) ought to know what initiated the termination of his contract with the Egyptian club,’ Kennedy told

Seidu Bancey scored 12 league goals and the goal that won them the FA Cup title last season and eventually emerged the Kotoko’s top scorer for the season.

He joined the Ghana champions from Ebusua Dwarfs in the 2012-13 and his good performance earned him a call-up into the local Black Stars team that emerged runner-up in the African Nations Championship (CHAN) in 2014 and was subsequently selected as part of the team of the tournament.

George Kennedy added that Kotoko have also expressed interest in Emmanuel Clottey, the 2012 CAF Champions League top scorer  and would complete his signing immediately after all documents are made ready.

Kotoko will take on Aduana Stars at Dormaa on Sunday when the Ghana Premier League kicks off.
